Blog Entry 1
This blog will serve two main purposes:
Typing practice. Because for some visceral reason, I have a desire to be very good at typing.
To be a companion to my YouTube channel https://www.youtube.com/@ExplainLikeIm25-Vlog
The "companion" purpose is actually multifaceted. I know for certain there will simply be times when I prefer to write rather than record a video (due to mental/bodily state, time/environment constraints, etc.). But there will also be times when there's an idea bouncing around my noggin that I need to "get out" (before the concept loses its hold of my attention). And of course the act of writing ideas down forces one to articulate them more fully; I imagine my workflow will consist of writing a blog entry to fully mull over an idea, and then I'll record an extemporaneous vlog on the topic with much more confidence than I would if I was articulating the idea (outside of my head) for the first time (not to say that I'll appear "confident" in my upcoming videos; it'll be a hot minute before I get to Competent Speaker status).
Anywho, with the preamble out of the way, to the actual blog entry: I published a video on Dec 5th--not expecting any views--that now has 298 views & two comments. While this is obviously a desirable outcome, it's also thrown a wrench in my plans. I was content to continue vlogging in obscurity until I developed adequate "public" speaking skills & refined my style (not to mention upping my production quality). So now I have a dilemma, because I've already determined to give an unadulterated view of myself & the process of pursuing these... pursuits. I understand that by YouTube standards, 298 is a piddly number. But if I imagine speaking in front of ~300 people (say, a school assembly), my brain basically tells me to panic (the largest group of strangers I've spoken in front of was probably less than 50--and it didn't go smoothly).
I think that's enough rambling. My plan for now is to only create vlog entries with boring titles & thumbnails (no "hooks") while I practice my speaking skills / presentation style. During this period, I'll be using this blog to articulate/record my thoughts on topics that I intend to make videos about in the future.
